Advancing Engineering Excellence

Our Mission

The Somali Engineers Association (SEA) is the official professional body for engineers working within the Somali Regional State of Ethiopia. Founded in 2015, our mission is to advance engineering excellence, uphold ethical standards, and contribute to the technical development of the region.

What We Do

We serve as the bridge between engineering professionals, government agencies, and international organizations working in the region. Our activities include:

  • Professional licensure and certification for practicing engineers
  • Continuing professional development (CPD) workshops and seminars
  • Technical advisory services for regional infrastructure projects
  • Publication of engineering standards and best practices
  • Advocacy for evidence-based policy in urban development

History & Regional Impact

Since our founding, SEA has contributed to over 45 regional infrastructure projects, certified more than 300 engineers, and established partnerships with 12 international engineering bodies. Our members represent every major engineering discipline — from civil and structural to electrical, mechanical, and software engineering.

Vision 2030

By 2030, we aim to have every practicing engineer in the Somali Regional State registered with SEA, a comprehensive technical library accessible to all members, and a robust continuing education programme that meets international CPD standards.
